This week the HVMCA received guidance from the Kern County Public Health Services Department for re-opening our pool and gym. From these Health Department documents, the Board of Directors is developing the specific guidelines that apply to our pool and gym. The Board is anticipating that we will be complete with developing our Heritage Village specific guidelines and adopting them by Monday, June 15th. Our manager will send to you a follow-on email advising you when each facility will be open for use; the email will include a copy of our adopted guidelines. In addition, we will post the guidelines at the pool facility, inside the weight room and on our new website.
Some of you may have noticed the deteriorating condition of the poolside bathroom. The Board had hoped to have the bathroom remodeled in time for use this summer, but the process of requesting bids, evaluating each bid and finally selecting a contractor took until earlier this month. We selected a bid and we were scheduled to start yesterday, Thursday the 11th. Given that we received the County guidelines for reopening the pool this week, the Board decided to not delay the reopening of the pool and to push the start of the remodeling to this fall. Once construction begins we will have to close the pool area for three weeks. There are several underlying plumbing issues that are part of the remodel that contribute to the length of time needed to complete the job. None of these issues are safety related and the bathroom is fully functional for use this summer.
Once the pool and gym are reopened, we are counting on the HVMCA members to adhere to the guidelines in order to minimize any health related risks. Once finalized, if you have comments about the adopted HVMCA guidelines or feedback regarding the implementation of the Kern County Public Health Services guidance, you can contact our manager, Sue Henderson.
